何を理由に、その日を建国記念日とするのかは、国によってそれぞれだし、呼び方もいろいろ。

Canada Dayは、いつも、みんなで集まってお祭りをする、とても楽しい日。
カナダの文化や歴史への誇りをもって、その日をみんなでお祝いする。

2013年、式年遷宮の年、僕は、ついに伊勢神宮に参拝。カナダから「お伊勢まいり」達成です！
そのことは、こちらにちょっとだけ書いてあります。 明けましておめでとうございます！
「おかげ年」の2014年にも行きたかったけど、去年は、行けませんでした。
20年後、またチャンスがあります！

天照大神　Amaterasu 　　 今日、カナダは、日本から一日おくれで、２月１１日。 ２月１１日は、建国記念の日。紀元節（きげんせつ）だ。 （月岡芳年「大日本名将鑑」より「神武天皇」） カナダのおじいちゃん、おばあちゃん（カナダのおじいちゃん、おばあちゃんち）からもらった、神話の事典 The Wordsworth　Dictionary of Mythology　の　Gods and Heroes　というところを見てみた。 な、なんと、 Amaterasu　という項目（こうもく）があった こんな風に書いてあった。 Amaterasu　Japanese Goddess The emperor's ancestor Goddess of the sun and light, of growth and fertility, she is considered to be the divine origin of the imperial dynasty. The Origin of Amaterasu The Kojiki（Notes on Ancient Matters), the most ancient Japanese book, recounts how, in the beginning, there were five divine couples. The last of these were brother and sister, Izanagi and Izanami. Izanagi was the god who made the solid earth and was father of Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun; Tsuki-yomi, the god of the moon; and Susa-no-o, the sea-god. Amaterasu accepted the heavens as her charge, and Tsuki-yomi accepted the kingdom of night; but Susa-no-o, grieving for his dead mother, refused his kingdom and said he wanted to join his mother in hell. .......(省略しょうりゃく） 古事記からの説明に加えて、 How the Kami tried to make Amaterasu come out of the cave　 神様たちが、どうやって天照大神に天岩戸（あまのいわと）から出てきてもらったのか っていうコラムもあった。 （天岩戸神話の天照大神　春斎年昌画） 伊勢神宮の写真ものっていて、 Custom requires that the shrines be rebuilt (in wood) every twenty years,...... というように、式年遷宮（しきねんせんぐう）についてまで、書かれてた。 そう、そして、今年は、なんと、６２回目の式年遷宮（しきねんせんぐう）の年（２０年に一度の大祭の年）なのだ （伊勢神宮：式年遷宮） 日本って、長い歴史のある国なんだなあって思った。
